GCSE Exam results are so bad at one Forest school that they have refused to release them.

Lakers School has refused to release its provisional General Certificate of Secondary Education results, despite all other local schools making their grades public last month.

Headteacher Alison Elliott said the school is appealing against the results its students obtained in both maths and English after finding serious issues with the changes made to the grading boundaries.

She said: “We have done badly, but I don’t want to reveal the results because it would be unfair on the students.

“The grade boundaries have changed considerably for both English and maths and we have been affected negatively.

“We have found major issues with the Edexcel Maths exams and the IGCSE exams. It’s a nationwide problem that has affected at least 100 schools.”

Mrs Elliot said that students who have performed well in the past were receiving low grades and added: “The students that got a C grade last year would have got a D grade this year with the changes to the grade boundaries. Once we receive the validated results and hear the outcome from our appeals we will release the GCSE results.”
