A man has been given two year restraining order - by a member of his own family.

Harley Phelps, 41, of Blaisdon Road, Westbury-on-Severn, assaulted a family member during a domestic violence incident.

As well as the restraining order, Phelps was also fined £388 by Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court and ordered to pay costs and surcharges totalling £439.

He had pleaded guilty to assaulting a male by beating at Westbury on November 14 last year.

The magistrates made a restraining order banning him from contacting his victim or from going within 50 metres of Wintles farmhouse until June 19, 2024.

The magistrates said it was not considered appropriate to order Phelps to pay any compensation to the victim ‘due to the family relationship’.
