A DISTRICT councillor could face criminal charges after stating that he had entered a secured area of the former Northern United colliery site earmarked for development. As part of the preparation work to regenerate the Northern Quarter area of Cinderford, Natural England have issued a permit for a team of specialist consultants to safely move some great crested newts, a protected species, from the site. To enable this project to be completed the Homes and Community Agency installed hundreds of metres of fencing around the Steam Mills site to secure the area and enable a fingertip search to be carried out.
