Councillor Adrian Birch has been appointed co-deputy leader of Forest of Dean District Council, alongside Andy Moore.

He replaces Councillor Jackie Fraser who has reluctantly decided to step down from her role for personal reasons.

Councillor Adrian Birch, Joint Deputy, said: “I’d like to offer my thanks to Councillor Fraser for her contribution to the council leadership for the last nine months, she’d done a fantastic job.

“I’m honoured to take on the job of co-deputy leader and look forward to working closely with Councillor Topping and Moore; and indeed, all members and staff to ensure we maintain continuity and provide the best service possible to our residents.”

Councillor Jackie Fraser, cabinet member for environment, said: “I was incredibly pleased to accept the position of joint deputy to the leader in June of last year and have throughly enjoyed my time in the role. However, at this present time I am unable to fulfil the shared duties of the role due to other commitments.

“I’m delighted that Cllr Birch has accepted the position and have no doubt that he’ll carry out the role dutifully.

“Furthermore, I’m excited to continue delivering for the Forest in my role as cabinet member for the environment.”

Councillor Fraser will continue her role as cabinet member for environment. Likewise, Councillor Birch will keep his portfolio as cabinet member for built environment.
