THE FOREST of Dean District Council and a local company have lost a major renewable energy court case.

The case went through the High Court and Court of Appeal systems and has now been adjudicated by the Supreme Court.

It concerns the change of use of agricultural land for the building of an 87-metre high wind turbine at Tidenham Farm and a decision from the district council’s planning committee to grant permission, including that the local community would financially benefit from it for the next two decades.

The case was heard by the Supreme Court in July but the verdict of the five judges only came out last week.
