PROTESTERS are aiming to voice their opinion to district councillors today at their planning committee meeting as a further attempt to get permission for an animal abattoir is set to be turned down.
Applicant Mohammed Jaffer, of Conduit Street, Gloucester, has tried again for permission after previous plans for the abattoir, in place of an existing poultry shed at Green Hill Farm, Dymock, was turned down by the Forest of Dean authority and an appeal to the Planning Inspectorate was dismissed.
The main objections include the possibilities of smell, flies and vermin, the generation of traffic and road safety fears, pollution to the River Leadon, adverse affect on tourist visitors to the area and adverse affect on the nearby cricket club.
The original planning application was refused by the district council in October 2017.
