RESIDENTS have been warned to be on their guard after a stranger tricked their way into the home of an 87-year-old woman.
The man told an elderly woman in Quabbs Road, Drybrook that he was from "the water board".
The unsuspecting pensioner let him into the house because he said he had to do some checks on the bathroom.
Police do not believe he stole anything from the property but say the incident is suspicious and are urging people to be vigilant.
They have carried out house to house inquiries in the area and want anyone who saw the man or any suspicious activity to call Gloucestershire Police on 0845 090 1234, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident 152 of July 14.
Police warned residents not to let anybody in that they do not know trust without a pre-arranged appointment.
