HUNDREDS of people had a good time with three days of music, poetry and merry-making at the Mitcheldean Festival.

The community-organised festival featured concerts, poetry readings, writing competitions, open mics, the village fete and the popular folk walk.

For the first time since 2009 there was a parade through the village before the fete with the Harmony Twirlstars at the head as it made its way from Mitcheldean School to the playing fields where the fete took place.

There were lots of traditional attractions at the fete as well as a dog show and demonstrations by the Twirlstars and Morris sides.

Among the stalls were fund-raisers for Gloucestershire Girl Guides, who are hoping to go to Switzerland and for Ruardean Youth Club.
