RESIDENTS in Newent are being invited to have their say on proposals to improve the town’s central bus stop as part of a new community initiative.
Newent Town Council has highlighted a public consultation launched by Buses4Us, which operates the Daffodil Line bus service, on potential upgrades to the stop through its “Beautiful Bus Stops” project.
The initiative aims to improve the experience for passengers waiting for buses by creating more attractive and comfortable places to sit and shelter.
According to Buses4Us, the current central stop in the town is practical but could benefit from improvements.
A spokesperson said the organisation has always believed that catching the bus should be a pleasant experience for passengers.
They said: “Beautiful Bus Stops have always been part of our mission here at Buses4Us. We firmly believe that catching the bus is a better experience when we have a nice place to comfortably wait for it.
“Our central Newent stop is certainly convenient, but even the kindest person couldn’t call it beautiful.”
The group says it is excited to be involved in the project and believes the proposed changes could bring significant improvements to the area.
As part of the consultation process, residents are being encouraged to review the plans and submit their feedback through an online form.
Buses4Us has been tasked with gathering responses on behalf of the group behind the proposal and says comments made directly through the consultation form will help ensure all feedback is properly recorded.
A spokesperson added that while social media responses are welcomed, they may not capture every view expressed by residents.
People living in and around Newent are therefore urged to take a few minutes to read the proposals and share their thoughts before the consultation closes.
