A BRIDE-TO-BE from Chepstow is preparing for her wedding while undergoing treatment for stage four cancer, as friends rally to support her through a fundraising campaign.
Jade Fyfe, 37, was diagnosed earlier this year with metastatic bowel cancer after months of feeling unwell and searching for answers. Scans revealed a tumour in her bowel and, despite undergoing surgery, the cancer has since spread and is now inoperable.
Jade is currently receiving chemotherapy while also exploring holistic and complementary treatments, many of which come with significant additional costs.
Her long-time friend Danielle Weekes has launched a fundraising appeal to help ease the financial strain, with an initial target of £30,000 to support specialist treatment, travel to appointments and day-to-day living expenses.
Danielle said: “In the face of a diagnosis like this, some may be swallowed by grief; this is not Jade. Jade is never a passenger; she is fierce and strong, vulnerable, and soft.
“She has carried the weight of this awful situation with poise and positivity – now it is our turn to support in the best, most effective way we can.”
Jade lives in Chepstow with her fiancé Brad and their one-year-old puppy, Sika. Despite the challenges she faces, the couple are continuing with plans to marry in June, a moment friends say has taken on even greater meaning.
Described as someone who “loves deeply”, Jade is being supported by a close network of family and friends determined to help her focus on her health and precious time with loved ones.
Danielle added: “We’re going to give this fight everything we have.”
Donations can be made via the online fundraiser, with supporters also encouraged to share the page to help reach a wider audience and boost awareness. Messages of support have also been flooding in from the community.
