GULLIVER'S Travels star Olly Alexander may have worked with Jack Black in the land of Lilliput but he's still not too big to pop into his local cinema to see his latest film.
The young Coleford actor was too busy working on another film to attend a special screening for cast and crew.
So he might try to catch it in Coleford when he pops home to spend Christmas in the Forest.
The movie opens in the UK on Boxing Day and will be competing against Narnia for family audiences over the holiday period.
Olly missed out on the Los Angeles premiere – and the promoters decided against a big UK launch.
"They are not having anything here which is a bit of shame," he said. "They did have a screening but I could not make it because I was filming at the time.
"I do want to see the film but watching yourself on screen is a bit of a weird experience. I don't know any actors who like doing it.
"I love the Coleford cinema, so I might pop in there if they are showing it."
In the film, Olly plays an anarchic prince and his star-studded family include dad Billy Connolly, sister Emily Blunt and mum Catherine Tate.
Jack Black plays Gulliver in the new adaptation of Jonathan Swift's classic tale. But it is Olly who has been earning critical acclaim since filming the Hollywood blockbuster at Pinewood Studios earlier this year.
The son of Coleford Music Festival founder Vicki Thornton, has been catching the eye of critics since landing a part in TV series Summerhill and giving up college to start an acting career.
Cult films Enter the Void and Tormented followed – and the 20-year-old recently received rave reviews for his part in The Aliens at The Bush Theatre in London,
The Office star Mackenzie Crook, who was in the stage play, is also in his latest film Cheerful Weather For a Wedding which was shot in Salisbury earlier this year.
In March he will start filming a six-part BBC series The Fades which is expected to be a hit with younger audiences when it goes out this Autumn.
But this week Olly is relaxing by performing with his electric folk band at famous jazz club Ronnie Scotts before coming home to the Forest for Christmas.
"I just want to get away from London for a bit," he said."I'll relax with my mum and meet up with friends.
"It's been really difficult getting to see people lately and I'm starting to feel like a bad friend."
Anyone popping into a local cinema over Christmas to see Gulliver's Travels might get an Olly surprise.
"It's a Hollywood film and I hope people enjoy it for what it is," he said.
"It's a nice bit of escapism and a real family film."
