NOT even flash foods in the town centre on Friday evening could dampen spirits for Coleford’s revived Music Festival at the weekend.

A heavy thunderstorm f looded shops and home in St John Street but in spite of delays in building the stages, the event kicked off on schedule on Saturday lunchtime.

Town Mayor Nick Penny said: “In spite of all that it was possibly the best music festival we have ever had.

“The weather for the rest of the weekend was fantastic and on Saturday we had pretty much a capacity crowd filling the town centre.

“And on Sunday, there was a lovely family atmosphere. All in all a total success.”

Staged across Saturday and Sunday, the event saw live music coming from four stages around the town centre, which featured an eclectic mix of jazz, reggae, rockabilly, blues, folk and more.

Performances came from musicians and artists from the local area as well as a few from a little further afield.

The event was headlined by award-winning Oysterband and the country’s number one jive swing band, The Jive Aces.

Oysterband brought passion, power and poetry to folk and roots music on Saturday, while The Jive Aces are renowned worldwide for their high-energy showmanship.
