A 65 year-old Coleford man has been banned from driving for 14 months and ordered to pay £715 in fines, costs and surcharges, for being at the wheel while over the alcohol limit.

At Cheltenham Magistrates Court, Stephen Tucker, of Queensway, Broadwell, Coleford, pleaded guilty to driving a Renault Clio in Coalway Road, Coleford, on March 17 this year with 51 micrograms of alcohol on his breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.

The court said they gave him full credit for pleading guilty for his previous good character and remorse but the offence was aggravated by the microgram reading and the fact that an accident occurred.

Tucker was told he can reduce his ban by 14 weeks if he satisfactorily completes an approved driving course by Boxing Day this year.
