COLEFORD town centre will come alive with emergency vehicles, demonstrations and displays on Saturday, August 9 as it hosts an Emergency Services Showcase.
The free event runs from 10am until 2pm and gives residents the chance to meet first responders, explore specialist equipment and learn more about how local services keep people safe.
Among the organisations attending are Gloucestershire Constabulary, Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service, South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, Severn Freewheelers EVS, Severn Area Rescue Association, Gloucestershire Cave Rescue Group, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire 4x4 Response, the Rapid Relief Team UK, the British Red Cross and emergency response teams from the district and county councils.
Police teams will include the Rural Crime Unit, Neighbourhood Policing Team, Cadets and Dog Section, with a range of vehicles such as a quad bike, motorbike, tractor and drone unit on display.
Firefighters will demonstrate rescue techniques and showcase equipment including an aerial ladder platform, co-responder unit and off-road response vehicles.
The air ambulance charity will explain how it delivers lifesaving care across the region, while the Blood Bikes will highlight their work transporting vital medical supplies between NHS facilities. Cave rescue volunteers will also demonstrate the specialist skills they use across the Forest and beyond.
Emergency planners from the Local Resilience Forum will be on hand to offer advice on how to be better prepared for incidents like flooding or severe weather, and the Rapid Relief Team will show how they support emergency services and those affected during times of crisis.
A spokesperson for Coleford Town Council said: “We’re delighted to welcome so many vital organisations”
The event is open to all and expected to be well attended. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy what promises to be an informative and engaging day in the town centre.
