RETAINED firefighters from Coleford are doing their bit to help out Father Christmas this year by giving him a guided tour of Forest communities.

The group of firefighters have taken it upon themselves with a couple of local sponsors to devise a float that sees Santa’s sleigh travelling around the town and nearby areas.

The float has warmed the cockles of many residents, having seen the sleigh pass through areas such as Mile End and Berry Hill.

“They do it out of the good of they own hearts,” said Emma Tanner, a local resident who felt the firefighters should be recognised.

“They are giving their time for nothing and it’s making so many kids’ days.

“They’ve been handing out sweets for the children who’ve seen it out and about. It’s just so lovely.”
