HEADTEACHERS across the Forest of Dean have assured parents they are working hard to cope with the shutdown of schools caused by the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.

The final day for all students to attend was last Friday and the lockdown for all pupils, other than those in specific areas of need or whose parents are designated as ‘key workers’ by the government, began on Monday morning.

And, while headteachers pulled no punches about the seriousness of the situation, they maintained that preperations had been made to handle the situation.
