AS digital downloads decline and CDs slowly disappearing in the wake of streaming services there is a resurgence in old fashioned vinyl records.

Music lovers are discovering that listening to an LP is an event.

When a tiny needle slips into a groove on a hard vinyl disc and suddenly a rich, warm sound fills the room.

There is a new appreciation for vinyl, which is now becoming something of a phenomenon.

It not just those harping back to their youth, its the younger generation who are now discovering these tangible black discs, often with imaginative artwork and informative sleeve notes.

As part of this phenomenon Record Store Day on April 16 is a celebration of the unique culture surrounding all the independently owned record stores.

Ceritech Audio based in Cinderford will be joining in the celebrations with in-store demonstrations on various vinyl based music systems for all local music fans to enjoy.

Owner of Ceritech Audio, Simon Jackson said: “We have a fantastic day planned with vinyl-based music systems on demonstration to entertain customers as they search for those Record Store Day gems.

“We have ordered a large number of the special releases exclusive for the day and in addition to these, we will have other titles available for customers to browse at the event.

“It’s always a great way for music fans to come together and celebrate the culture of our independent shop.”
