A psychiatric report is to be prepared on a 25 year old man accused of starting a fire in Cinderford which led to four people being rescued.
Matthew Pond, of Market street, made a brief preliminary appearance at Gloucester crown court on Wednesday.
Bearded Pond, who has short dark hair, tattoos on his neck and wore black trousers and tee shirt, was remanded in custody until October 7 to allow time for a psychiatrist to report on him.
Defence solicitor Sarah Jenkins told the court "Effectively, there is very little dispute about what took place that night. The case will depend largely on the contents of the expert report."
She said he has an appointment to be interviewed by a psychiatrist on August 26.
Judge William Hart told Pond "The next hearing will be on October 7 for plea and case management. By then Miss Jenkins will have the psychiatric report and we will see where we are going."
The fire which led to four people and four cats being rescued from flats above shops in Cinderford town centre.
Tania Self-Dixon, who was due to open a wedding dress and christening gown shop called Alicianna that day, lost £15,000 worth of stock in the fire.
