Cinderford St John v Redmarley

EVEN a 31-ball knock of 57 not out from Craig Rich couldn't propel Cinderford to their first win of the season at home to Redmarley.

Cinderford skipper Mark Roberts won the toss and invited Redmarley to bat first.

Yardley and Dudfield put on 46 for the first wicket but two quick wickets put the visitors on the back foot.

Dudfield went on to score 42, adding 60 in partnership with Joe Lawrence, who made 57 from just 47 balls.

Later in the innings Ollie Norman (26 not out) and Julian Jones (45) scored useful runs to get Redmarley to 218-8. Jones scored his runs in just 25 balls, whacking four sixes and a four.

Mark Roberts took 4-43, while Mark House conceded only 32 runs in 11 overs.

Cinderford's reply started steadily with an opening stand of 32, dominated by Nigel Cartwright (24).

Matt Whitney (25) and Richard Henry (48) carried things on, but they were kept in check by Ollie Norman, who claimed 5-64.

With the run rate rising Craig Rich did superbly well to get Cinderford to within nine runs of their target, striking three fours and four sixes, but the visitors just held the upper hand.
