THANKFULLY, this story had no sting in its tail after Littledean resident Chris Evans found a plague of insects in his house.
For not only was a hornet’s nest discovered by Mr Evans in his loft but it turned out to be a monster!
Now he intends to let everyone have a look at it by donating it to local history.
Mr Evans, of Greenway, Littledean, said: “I discovered it about 12 months ago in the loft. It was quite active then so I left it alone.”
He went to his loft to make some general repairs to the house but added: “It has fallen down off the rafters now onto the deck of the ceiling.
“It is about two feet wide and we are keeping it in a dustbin for now. The missus is thinking about taking it down to the museum.”
The hornets have vacated their nest now but Mr Evans said: “We had a few fly down last year but there are none left this year.”
