MOTORISTS are set to see red when double yellow lines are removed from Cinderford town centre.

Highways chiefs say on street parking will still be banned when the lines are burned off the road to make the Triangle look good.

Motorists will still get tickets from traffic wardens if they defy the ban and park outside designated bays.

The regeneration plans for the town centre were unveiled at this week's annual meeting.

Councillors predict chaos if motorists trying to avoid the charges in the main car parks fail to see the signs telling them not to use the roads.

Highways chiefs say wardens will operate a softly softly approach until people get used to the pioneering new restricted parking zone.

The shake-up will produce just two extra parking bays but people will be free to park anywhere at night and on Sundays.

Although people will not be able to park at the side of the road in the zone, they will be able to nip into the shops in Commercial Street.
