THE Three Ashes Care Home in Newent is expanding, creating up to 100 new jobs.
Plans went on show to the public this week, revealing a major new development with up to 70 rooms, including a specialist dementia and brain injury facility and hydrotherapy pool.
Currently, the home, which opened in 2010, has just 10 rooms.
Bob Wooding of Cleeve Care, who run the home, said: "The development will all take place in three phases over a five year period. It will be a hub for care in the local area.
"We will also be looking after people in their own homes providing personal care, anything from 30 minutes a day to having a designated carer.
"We will be looking to employ local residents and they will be trained either on the job here at the care home or at our training centre in Cheltenham.
"The plans have been talked about for about six months and things will hopefully get moving by next spring.
"We have spoken to local residents and the reaction we have had is overwhelmingly positive."
