A CANNABIS factory has been found in a building following a fire in Ruardean.

Two fire crews from Cinderford were called to the fire in an outbuilding of a house in the High Street, next to the Malt Shovel pub, at 8.02 this morning.

After firefighters extinguished the blaze, which had spread through part of the roof of the property, a cannabis growing operation was discovered downstairs.

Police were called in following the discovery of around 50 suspected cannabis plants.

A 47-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis in connection with the incident and is currently being questioned at Gloucester Police Station.
