FOREST planners were given a round of applause when members refused to allow the proposed Allaston Road housing development in Lydney to go ahead.

The application sought outline planning permission for around 200 homes on land off Driffield Road, Allaston Road and Court Road.

Developer Brian Bennett wanted to create a new village called 'Primrose'.
