BERRY Hill lost heavily by 60-15 away at Oldfield Old Boys but there are signs that they are about to turn their league form around.

Front-row forward Clive Ryder and back-row Kurt Brown have both rejoined the club.

Ryder left Berry Hill in the summer to become Bream' s player/coach, while Brown signed for Lydney in National Two South and has impressed the coaching staff at Regentsholme.

Hill have also brought in Fijian Kami Nakove, a former Army centre.

South West Two West league leaders Oldfield Old Boys blitzed Berry Hill in the final quarter on Saturday. Hill trailed just 19-15 at half-time, with no signs of what was to follow.

However, poor tackling and numerous mistakes cost them dear as the home side ran in five tries in the final 20 minutes.

Hill kept in touch in the first half with two tries from number eight Richard Hobbs, plus a penalty and a conversion from Dave Croudace. It was still only 22-15 midway through the second half with Hill's pack performing well and dominating in the scrums.

If Saturday taught them anything it is that the opposition will punish your mistakes in the higher leagues. The Foresters will be looking to improve their defensive organisation, particularly on their travels.

This week, Hill take on Cleve at home (3pm).
