BREAM have appointed Clive Ryder player/coach for next season.
The return of Ryder (pictured) is a big boost to the Gloucestershire One outfit, who finished fourth in the league last year.
Ryder previously captained the Bream first XV, but left to play for Berry Hill last season.
He helped Hill win promotion to South West One West and reach the semi-finals of the National Intermediate Cup as part of a formidable front-row with Luke Hunter and Andy Wright.
Ryder played first-team rugby at Cinderford in his younger days under Dennis Hargreaves.
He can play anywhere in the front-row as well as the back-row.
Bream chairman Richard Halford said: "It's great to have Clive back. I watched him play for Berry Hill a few times last season and he was one of their superior players.
"His heart and roots are in Bream though, and he lives in the village.
"Part of the reason for him coming back is that he didn't want the extra travelling that will go with Hill's promotion. He has his own business and also works on the doors."
Ryder replaces ex-Lydney lock Jimmy Roberts as coach. However, Roberts is staying on at Bream as a player.
Carl Rogers is also returning to Bream, while Sean James is back to full fitness after missing most of last season with a severe gallstone problem.
One player likely to leave is Tai Lakabuka, who has indicated that he wants to try his luck at Lydney.
Halford added: "We are recruiting and I think things will be a bit rosier. It's a hard division to get out of though, especially next year because I think there will be a few extra sides."
Bream have already resumed light pre-season training at the club (mainly football and touch rugby) on Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm.
