A BREAM-BASED business owner has been recognised on the national stage after being named Mobile Cat Groomer of the Year at the Animal Star Awards.

Sarah Baker, founder of Moggsy Malone, received the honour at the national ceremony celebrating excellence and compassion within the animal care industry.

Specialising exclusively in feline grooming, Sarah provides a rare and highly skilled service that focuses entirely on the welfare, comfort and behaviour of cats.

Unlike general pet groomers who cater mainly for dogs, her work requires an advanced understanding of feline handling and the ability to work with nervous or shy cats in a calm, reassuring environment.

"I was honoured to win at the Animal Star Awards,” said Sarah. “Cat grooming requires advanced understanding of feline behaviour and handling, as well as expertise in dealing with anxious or shy cats.”

Sarah originally set up Moggsy Malone in Cheshire just under two years ago and was nominated for the award while living in the North West.

Around six weeks ago, she and her husband made the move to Gloucestershire, settling in Bream, where she is now offering her specialist mobile grooming service across the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Monmouthshire.

Moggsy Malone offers a variety of services tailored to each cat’s needs, from introductory grooms and express brush-outs to full “lion cuts” and “teddy bear” trims for long-haired breeds.

Sarah also provides claw clipping, hygiene grooms and mat removal, all done in the comfort of the cat’s own home.

She hopes her recent award will help raise awareness of the importance of professional grooming for feline welfare, particularly for older cats or those with mobility issues.
