FAMILY and friends have paid tribute to ’beautiful and courageous’ 22-year-old Chelsea Meek who died last week.
Chelsea, from Ruardean Hill, had been living a normal life after a liver transplant ten years ago.
She was living a happy life with her boyfriend of three years Louis Overthrow and her dog Dave but earlier this year she felt unwell and following a blood test Chelsea was told the she needed another transplant.
Linda Meek, her mother, said: “She went for 10 years after she had her first transplant.
“She was living a normal life. But she didn’t feel right and had a blood test and on May 14 she had her second transplant but there were a lot of complications.
“At the hospital Chelsea received another liver transplant, and we were all hopeful as the donor organ was a good match.
"But because she had lost a lot of blood during the operation, she didn’t recover from it.
“Chelsea was a fighter and she fought until the very end. She overcame a lot of obstacles on the way, but luck just wasn’t on her side.
“She was beautiful inside and out and she had tremendous strength and courage.
Her boyfriend was planning on proposing to her once she recovered.
Mrs Linda Meek said: “We’d like to thank everyone for all the support they have given us during this hard time.”
Chelsea’s funeral will be at Holy Trinity Church in Harrow Hill on July 22 at noon.
Attendants are asked to wear something colourful for her and flowers may be delivered to the church on the day.
