BOXER Chris Higgs says he is 'buzzing' after getting the all-clear to fight again from his doctors.

Higgs met with eye specialists at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital on Monday, where he was told he could get back into the ring and pick up the pieces of his fledgling pro career.

Higgs, 23, has won all seven of his professional fights to date.

However, he has not fought since April 2010 after beating Mark McCoullough by a single point in a bruising encounter in Swindon.

He was admitted to Swindon Hospital straight after that fight and subsequently referred to a neurologist after complaining of intermittent double vision in his left eye.

"I am absolutely over the moon, it means everything to me," said the former Whitecross School pupil.

"It's amazing how many people have stopped me in the street to wish me luck.

"Now I want to bring a title back to the Forest for all of them."

Higgs has been diagnosed with a weak superior oblique muscle in his eye.

He must still undergo a brain scan and various other checks to satisfy the boxing authorities, but passing the scrutiny of his own specialists was the key examination.

"I'm all set to fight on September 3 in Swindon and it's going to be mental," said Higgs.

"I can now get back in the ring and start sparring again. It will take a while to get my timing back, but Team Higgs is back in business."
