CINDERFORD residents were evacuated and a bomb disposals team called in as an unexploded World War II device was found on the site of a new housing development.

Police were called out to the incident off St White's Road at around 8am today (Wednesday, June 10) and promptly shut off the road at the Ruspidge Road and Valley Road junctions.

The device was found just yards from the White Hart Inn on St White's Road and police evacuated anyone within a 250m radius – standard practise for a bomb concern.

The bomb disposals team arrived from Ashchurch, Tewkesbury at around 11:30am and the incident is ongoing.
