MID-COUNTIES Co-operative chief executive Ben Reid says it is the District Council's fault that Asda is not yet trading in Cinderford. In a written reply to a concerned Cinderford resident, Mr Reid says that if the Local Authority had followed correct procedures Asda would be trading by now. Mr Reid said: "We all have to abide by the law of the land which bestows rights but brings with it responsibilities. It is not appropriate for the local authority to ride roughshod over our rights and they clearly have a responsibility to act within the law. I suspect if your neighbour was building an extension that was outside the planning regulations you might consider objecting."
