CINDERFORD beauty Queen Amy Brown was stunned when she walked onto the catwalk of the Miss England semi-finals to be greeted with a marriage proposal.
Her boyfriend Ben Jones from Littledean was armed with a ‘will you marry me’ sash and a Vera Wang rose gold and diamond engagement ring to back up his proposal.
The 22-year-old Miss Forest of Dean - who said ‘yes’ - said: “I still can’t believe it. It was just incredible - I didn’t have any idea what was going on.
“Ben doesn’t like planning things, I was so emotional because I knew he must have gone to a lot of trouble organising everything.”
Software developer Ben, 23, said: “We’ve been going out for five-and-a-half years. I bought the ring six months ago but didn’t want to rush copying proposals - I wanted to do something special.
“When I knew she was through to the semi-final I thought it would be the perfect option - though I wasn’t expecting a yes from organisers - it’s been terrifying to think about all those people watching.
“I was nervous as hell about proposing on the stage but I’m so happy.”
Ben and Amy met at Royal Forest of Dean College where they studied psychology and hope to marry in 2018 but have not finalised any details yet.
