I AM reading a book which actually names the millionaires who make their money in the UK, then go abroad to tax havens to avoid paying tax.
This book sets out other tricks that tax avoiders use.
I've got to admit that these tricks are too complicated for me to understand. It seems to be that not only money but even produce can be shifted from country to country at certain propitious times.
The League of Nations tried to stop these fiddles as long ago as 1920 but the rich found ways round it.
The Government should make laws to stop this tax evasion but, obviously, it won't be done by this Government.
If billions of pounds of tax could be recovered, there would be no need for cuts in vital services.
Again, I am urging people to join Forest Against the Cuts. Ring Diana Gash on 01594 839441.
The book is called Treasure Islands by Nicholas Shaxson and can be ordered through The Forest Bookshop.
