FEDERAL Mogul union boss John Cooke says the new Asda store in Lydney would secure the long term future for hundreds of jobs at the camshaft plant.
And he says the town must put jobs before houses.
The Asda plans will aid the construction of a new finishing foundry, which would add jobs to the 200-strong plant workforce.
John Cooke, Unite union conveyor, said: "At this moment in time, jobs are much more important to Lydney than houses. If Asda gets the go ahead to build in Lydney, they are going to pay toawrds a new finishing plant here."
