ALL police officers in the Forest of Dean will start their shifts in Coleford.

Police working in Newent, Lydney and Cinderford who currently start their shifts in the towns they patrol will in future be briefed at the Lord's Hill Police Station, Coleford, before they set out.

Gloucestershire Police's new operating model, which will be implemented from July 23 follows a financial review and extensive spending cuts.

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police said: "We are confident that these measures taken against the background of reduced funding for Gloucestershire Constabulary will still allow us to provide an effective police service to the Forest of Dean."
