A PROSTITUTE who went back to a client’s home when he was out and burgled it has been jailed for six months at Gloucester Crown Court.

Kelly Smith, 33, of Morris close, Yorkley, was convicted by a jury yesterday (May 17) of burgling the home of taxi driver William Collins in Upper Churnside, Cirencester, and stealing his watch and about £400 cash.

Jailing her, Judge Michael Cullum said "You took money from an older and hard working man whom you had serviced as a prostitute."

He said the jail term had to be immediate in view of the crime and her past record which included a burglary with 13 similar offences considered in 2005.

Smith carried out the burglary jointly with a man, pub chef Lewis Hope, 25, of High Street, Cuddesdon, Oxfordshire, the court heard.

Both defendants denied the burglary and blamed each other but after a short trial the jury found them both guilty.

Hope, who had no previous criminal convictions, was sentenced to six months jail suspended for a year and ordered to pay £550 compensation to the victim.

The jury heard that the couple were caught thanks to a passing taxi driver who knew the victim and also knew Smith.
