THREE men who were interviewed by police in connection with the Shaun James murder investigation have had their bail cancelled.
Two men, from Cinderford, and another from Cheltenham, will not face charges in relation to the death in 2002.
A 61-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and two men, aged 54 and 47, were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.
A statement from Gloucestershire Police read: "The Crown Prosecution Service has now reviewed the file of evidence in relation to the murder of Shaun James and decided those currently on police bail in connection with Shaun’s murder will not be charged at this time and will have their bail cancelled."
Detective Superintendent Steve Porter added: "We have been informed of the decision but haven’t yet been given the reasons behind it so our team will be meeting with the CPS later this week to discuss it.
“We’ve informed members of Shaun’s family and I completely understand their disappointment at this development.
“We have reassured them though that the investigation is not over and that we will continue to pursue any lines of inquiry that arise.
“The case is still active and I still firmly believe that one piece of information or just one phone call from someone in the local community could change everything.
"If you have information but haven’t yet come forward please call 101.”
