A 39-YEAR-OLD man will stand trial before a jury in September after denying a charge of burgling Newent Fire Station last year.

Vincent Smith, 39, of Parkside Close, Churchdown, pleaded not guilty when he appeared at Gloucester Crown court last Wednesday to stealing firefighting equipment from the station on December 4.

He also faces a charge of burgling Sandywell House in Newent on the same day, and the theft of a motocross and pedal cycles from Norton Court near Gloucester last April.

Smith’s co-defendant Jack McIntosh, 33, of Shamrock Close, Churchdown, did not enter any pleas.
