POLICE are appealing for information following a suspected assault on a man from Newent.
The victim sustained fractures to his cheekbone and eye socket and required hospital treatment as a result of the incident.
“During the evening of Monday, September 4, the victim had been at The Circle Club and then gone to a friend’s house to play cards,” a spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police said.
“He left the friend’s house to go home at around 3-3.30am on September 5.
“At some point during his walk home, between The George Hotel and Culver Street, we believe he was assaulted by an unknown offender.
“The victim has sustained unexplained but nasty injuries to his face, including multiple fractures to his cheekbone and eye socket, which required hospital treatment.
“We’d like to hear from anyone who witnessed or heard anything in the area in the early hours of Tuesday morning."
