GLOUCESTERSHIRE Fire and Rescue Service has celebrated its newest firefighters, following graduation for the Fire Service College on Friday, June 5.

After eight weeks of dedicated training, the Fire Service said the milestone reflects the resilience, commitment and teamwork shown throughout the recruits’ journey.

Cllr Paul Hodgkinson, cabinet member with responsibility for the fire and rescue service at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “I’m delighted to see six new firefighters joining Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service after recently graduating from the Fire Service College. This is a fantastic achievement and reflects their hard work, resilience and commitment throughout their training.

“Firefighting is a challenging but rewarding career, and I’m sure they will make a real difference in keeping our communities safe. I’d also like to thank their families and loved ones for the support they’ve given during this journey, as well as everyone involved in their training.”

Posting via social media, A GFRS spokesperson said: “It was fantastic to celebrate alongside families, friends, colleagues and our partners at Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service, who trained alongside our recruits.

“A huge thank you also goes to the families and loved ones whose support has played such an important part in this achievement.

“Congratulations to our newest firefighters — we’re incredibly proud of all you’ve achieved and look forward to seeing you thrive in your careers with GFRS.”

Gloucestershire residents also gave their praise to the six new firefighters. Commenting on GFRS’ social media post, residents gave words such as “congratulations all!” and “here’s to a long and great career!”.
