A DANGEROUS driver who joked with police that they had not been able to catch him was jailed for eight months today (Wednesday, July 27).
Twenty-four year old Christopher Davis-Jenkins had raced along the Cinderford to Steam Mills road at more than 80mph with police on pursuit, Gloucester Crown Court heard.
But the officer driving the patrol car had recognised him and decided to stop the chase in the interests of public safety.
When police later went to arrest Davis-Jenkins at his home in Morgans Lane, Ruardean Hill, he joked that he had been too fast for them and they had not been able to catch him, the prosecutor said.
Davis-Jenkins pleaded guilty to dangerous driving on the morning of Sunday, August 2 2015, driving while banned and having no insurance.
He sentenced Davis-Jenkins to 7 months for dangerous driving and one month concurrently for driving while disqualified.
He also banned him from driving for two years four months.
Recorder Evans told Davis-Jenkins "If you had collided with either of the vehicles that you just missed you would have faced a very much more serious charge.”
