A man in his 70s has died following a crash which saw his car leave the road in Cinderford this weekend.

Police say the single-vehicle collision occurred near Newtown Road, just off of the A4151 leading into the town centre, on Saturday morning (February 19).

Officers were called shortly after 11am with a report of a silver Vauxhall Astra having left the road.

Emergency services attended and the elderly driver, a man in his 70s from the Forest, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A statement said the man’s next of kin and the coroner had been informed.

Officers investigating the collision are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or those who may have relevant dashcam footage that have not yet spoken to the police.
