AN alleged Coleford drug dealer had almost £1,000 worth of heroin and crack cocaine in his car when police boxed him in and stopped him as he drove out of Gloucester, a jury heard yesterday.

Police officers had earlier seen a cyclist stop and get into Mark Mudway’s parked car in Eastern Avenue in Gloucester on September 3 last year, and when he got out again a minute later they suspected he had just bought drugs, the city’s crown court was told.

Prosecutor Leanne Woodman said after the alleged deal Mudway, a welder/fabricator from Coleford, drove out of the city through Over to the B4215 junction where three police cars boxed him in and brought him to a halt.

The cyclist who appeared to have bought drugs had ridden off towards the Tredworth cemetery and was not found.

After being stopped, Mudway, 32 held out his hand and showed the officers he had three packets of heroin and crack cocaine. He said he had bought the drugs for £400.

A police check of a mobile phone found in Mudway’s car showed there had been 21 drug-related messages, the prosecutor said.

Mudway of Park Road, Five Acres, has pleaded not guilty to possessing both drugs with intent to supply.

The trial continues.
