Pub rock fest aimes to be supercharged

Thursday, 24 February 2011

FOLLOWING on from the first hugely successful “Rocktoberfest” held last October, a second event is to take place this weekend at the Royal Oak pub in Whitecroft. The event, on Saturday February 26, is a 12 hour showcase of both established rock bands and more importantly, up and coming new bands and tries to incorporate everything from heavy metal originals, cover bands, acoustic acts to full-on thrash metal. Organiser and drummer with the Forest band Rebel Lust, Vinnie Buckingham said: “Last year I wanted to find a music event in October where I could enjoy my birthday and there was nothing going on, so I decided to organise something myself. “It started off as a few bands getting together for the evening and it quickly became apparent that there was some great local talent crying out for a chance to perform. So now “Rocktoberfest II” has been organised. Vinnie has some great acts booked, from young people doing their first ever gigs to well known bands like Toadstool, Irridium, Doods on Stools and Rebel Lust. “We also have a drum solo from Tim Coleman – who will be happy to book new pupils for drum lessons. It has also been decided that for each event a well known band from further afield will be invited to play and this weekend we have Supercharger coming all the way from Newcastle-on-Tyne.” The event is free and Dave the landlord will be putting on food during the day. To catch the latest news see Vinnie via Facebook.

And please note there is already a full provisional list of bands ready for “Rocktoberfest III” hopefully to be held in August!!
