Naming apples of your eye
Thursday, 04 November 2010
By Owen Adams
ANYONE wondering just what variety of apple tree they have in their garden can bring the fruit to be identified by an expert this Sunday.
Mike Porter, of the Marcher Apple Network, will be on hand at Chepstow’s Drill Hall from 11am to 4pm, to put names to apples and provide extra information.
The service is free, as is admission to the event, but people must bring three apples from each tree.
Chepstow Apple Day, staged by the town council and Transition Chepstow, also features an exhibition of 70 varieties of locally grown apples, stalls, demonstrations of apple-pressing and cider-making, games and competitions.
