Newent Town recruit ahead of Hellenic League debut

NEWENT Town have had a busy summer on the player registration front ahead of a maiden campaign in the Hellenic League.

Newent will enter a side in the Hellenic Division Two West and have resigned goalkeeper Alex Goode, proven goalscorer Dorian Colling and 25-goal scoring sensation Sanchez Grange.

Former Gloucester City man Alex Allard also returns.

“We’re looking strong for the upcoming season,” said club secretary Phil Clarke.

“Playing two pre-season games back-to-back each Saturday has been a real success, with a chance to look at around 30 Newent players in a day.

“Last Saturday we blooded eight of our youth team, all just 16 or 17 years old, and they all did themselves proud.

“The improvements to the team were clear to see in their last game, brushing aside Ledbury Town 7-0, and Dorian Colling bagging a first half hat-trick.”

Manager Ben Stringer added: “We are nearly there. We just need to add a couple more players, especially in the defensive areas.”
