Forest youth side fight back from brink of folding to finish runners-up

By Liam Ryder in Football

RUARDEAN Hill Rangers Under-14s finished runners-up in a very strong Cheltenham Youth League Division Two.

The team were on the verge of folding in July until manager Raymie Knight and coach Ivor Morgan took the reigns with just nine players from the previous season.

But the management duo recruited eight new players, including five from title-winners Lydney Town on a dual-registration deal.

“We have built up a great relationship with Lydney, with them having five of our boys on a Saturday,” said Morgan.

“So 10 of the boys play on a Saturday morning for Lydney and again on Sunday afternoon for Ruardean Hill.

“We’d like to thank the club for their support and the great facilities they have, and to congratulate the first team on winning the Northern Senior League Division One and getting promotion to the county league.

“We would also like to thank our sponsors Nick Matthews and Daisy Johnson for the fantastic all-weather training gear they have provided.”
