HARROW Hill will contest the Reg Davis Cup Final against Northern Senior League rivals Newent Town after their place in the competition was finally confirmed.
Hill were beaten 2-0 at home by Stroud Harriers in their semi-final in September, but the Foresters were given a reprieve when Harriers were adjudged to have selected a suspended player.
The Stroud side appealed against the ruling but their hopes were dashed and an all-Forest final will take place later this month.
“We have been notified for some time but everything is coming together as it is getting closer,” said Hill secretary Mark Boseley.
“All we are aware of is what we said before. Stroud fielded a player that was ineligible and were removed from the competition as a result.
“I don’t think that there was any attempt at sharp practice on Stroud’s part, they fell foul of a technical issue. Stroud have been sporting throughout.”
The final takes place at Lydney Town’s Recreation Ground home on Wednesday March 22. Kick-off is at 7.30pm.
