LYDNEY Parkrun organiser David Price has set himself a target of running 12 half marathons during 2017 to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
He has set the ball rolling by taking part in the inaugural Farnborough Winter Half Marathon on January 22, in a time of 2hrs 9min.
He said: “I have set myself a challenge for 2017 to run 12 half marathons in one year.
“My challenge continues on February 12, when I take on the Portsmouth Coastal Half. More local runs include Gloucester Half on August 6, Severn Bridge Half on August 27 and Forest of Dean on September 24.
“Whilst taking on this challenge I am raising money for British Heart Foundation, to help support them in their research and development into Heart Disease.
“I started running in 2014, and have run several races and raised money for local charities, including Great Oaks Hospice last year, when I ran my first ever half marathon with my wife Leona.
“Last year I also started and oversee Lydney Parkrun, which is a free 5k timed run 9am every Saturday morning at Lydney Boating Lake.
“So that people can track my progress and find out how I am doing I have set up a dedicated Facebook page to it.
“And for those wishing to sponsor me the best way is via my Justgiving page 1 year 12 halfs.”
